A Sikeston woman is facing animal abuse charges

A Sikeston woman has been charged with animal abuse after investigation by the department of public safety.  The charges stem from an investigation Wednesday into two severely malnourished dogs.  DPS and the Sikeston Area Humane Society took custody of the dogs after they were found at 37-year old Elaine Williams’ home on Montgomery Street.  They had no food or water and were chained to a tree.  The dog’s ribs, tailbone and backbone were clearly visible through their skin.  Authorities located Williams and placed her under arrest is charged through Scott County Court.  She has being held on a 5-thousand dollar bond with a condition of “No care, custody or control of animals” .
