'Operation Safe Halloween' postponed

Oct 30, 2013 -- 2:36pm

The McCracken County Sheriff’s Department will be partnering again this year with other agencies, local businesses, and organizations for the 2nd year for the Halloween night event: Operation Safe Halloween.  The event will be held on the K-Mart parking lot on Lone Oak Road beginning at 5 p.m., Friday November 1st.  K-Mart has agreed to not only participate again this year, but also to allow the use of their parking lot.  The sheriff's department says last year’s event drew an estimated crowd of 1,000 or more children and parents. This event was previously advertised for Thursday/tonight (Halloween night), but has been changed to Friday, due to the weather forecast.  Space will be made available for local businesses and organizations to set up a booth, advertise their business or organization, and hand out Halloween candy. Concessions will be provided by McCracken County High School Football Boosters.  You are asked to bring canned goods or non-perishable food items for the Family Services Society, and the Paducah Cooperative Ministries.
