Citizens Electric crews are working restore electricity after a dump truck made contact with power lines this morning in Perryville. According to a news release issued by the Citizens Electric Corporation, at about 9:45 a.m. a dump truck hit a power line resulting in a power loss in the area along Highway 51 south of Interstate 55 to the Perry County line. At the peak of the outage, 691 meters were without service but power was restored to nearly 200 residences and businesses at 11 a.m. Superintendents estimate the remaining meters will be out for another three to four hours.
