Ameren Missouri keeps tabs on the movement of Isaac

Aug 29, 2012 -- 12:46pm

Ameren Missouri officials are tracking the movement of what’s left of Isaac as it churns through Arkansas and into central Missouri by Friday.  They are taking proactive measures to make sure power stays on despite the heavy rains and winds that are expected to hit anywhere from Southwest Missouri to our area through the weekend.  Ameren is urging you to create a storm kit, with emergency phone numbers, a weather radio, flashlights, bottled water, and canned foods.  Ameren manager of distribution operations Kevin Anders tells KZIM KSIM they are using lessons from 2008, when Hurricane Ike hit the Texas coast.  Anders says they are most concerned about high winds that make down power lines.  He reminds you to stay clear of those active lines and report outages at 1-800-552-7583.  Isaac’s remnants are expected to dump anywhere from 2 to 4 inches of rain in Southeast Missouri, with the bulls-eye of 5 to 6 inches near Columbia.
