As Tropical Storm Isaac edges closer inland relief agencies are preparing for the worst. Southeast Missouri’s chapter of the Red Cross is sending volunteers to help in several states if conditions worsen. They dispatched four people along with their Emergency Response Vehicles into Florida last week. They are currently operating shelters in five states. Red Cross Emergency Services Director Jamie Koehler tells KZIM-KSIM they still need people who are willing to volunteer. More than 800 people stayed in the many shelters provided over the weekend. Isaac is predicted to continue north into the weekend. To learn how you can help call 335-9471.
