Monday morning, at approximately 8:35, Cape Girardeau Police Department responded to a robbery at First Missouri State Bank at Independence and Mt. Auburn in reference to a robbery that was occurring with the suspect still inside. 50-year-old David Dawson allegedly handed a teller a note demanding money and claiming to have a weapon. Another employee phoned police. Officers arrived and were able to take the suspect into custody without incident as soon as he exited the bank. No one was injured during the robbery. An arrest warrant was issued for 50-year-old David Dawson, of Cape Girardeau, for Class B felony of attempted robbery in the first degree. He is being held on a $75,000 bond and will be transported to the Cape Girardeau County Sheriff’s Department for holding/at the Cape Girardeau County Sheriff’s Department.
