P. Bluff man sentenced to 30 years for child porn

Dec 16, 2013 -- 5:26pm

The United States Attorney’s Office announced today/Monday that a Butler County man was sentenced on felony child pornography charges. 62-year-old DAVID L. CATHEY, of Poplar Bluff, was sentenced to 30 years imprisonment on two felony charges for producing child pornography. Upon completion of that sentence, he will be placed on supervised release for the remainder of his life. Previously with his plea, Cathey admitted that over a period of several years he took photographic images of two minor females less than 12 years old, whom he caused to engage in sexually explicit conduct.  He stored some of the images on a compact disc, and it was discovered when Cathey sold his computer and failed to remove the disc.  The Poplar Bluff Police Department, the Southeast Cyber Crimes Task Force, the Butler County Sheriff’s Department, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation worked jointly to investigate the case.
