The Perryville Rotary Club will finally get to put their 4th of July fireworks show to good use and end the summer season with a bang on Labor Day! The organization has sponsored the city’s annual Independence Day display for over 12 years. But it was postponed earlier this summer due to the drought. They originally rescheduled the event for this Sunday but have moved it a day due to the forecasted rains. The show will be held Monday at 8 PM at Perryville City Park. Rotary member Beth Guth tells KZIM KSIM they’re hopeful interest won’t fizzle out just because it’s not the 4th of July! Guth says the night starts at 6 PM with patriotic music played throughout the park and glow necklaces and refreshments for sale. She says the show is mostly paid for through local sponsors but they had to put some of their own money into it this year. Several other local cities also cancelled or postponed their 4th of July events, due to the fire danger.
