Hundreds will gather to walk at Cape County Park North for the Southeast Area Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, on September 15th. Outreach Coordinator Debra Kern tells KZIM KSIM our region includes eleven counties with an ever growing need for education, research, and availability of resources… There are up to 10-thousand people suffering in our area. Her job is to help caregivers and those with the disease that has three basic phases. First - they are forgetful. Second they lose physical abilities. And third they revert back to behaviors similar to those of a small child. This fundraiser is not a race but a leisurely walk through the trees and around the lake. You can choose a 3-mile or a 1-mile track. Kern says you can join or form a team at a-l-z-dot-org-forward-slash-STL. Registration is at 8am with the walk to end Alzheimer’s at 9.
