Hundreds will gather to walk at Cape County Park North for the Southeast Area Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, on September 15^th. Outreach Coordinator Debra Kern tells KZIM KSIM our region includes eleven counties with an ever growing need for education, research, and availability of resources… There are up to 10-thousand people suffering in our area. Her job is to help caregivers and those with the disease that has three basic phases. First - they are forgetful. Second they lose physical abilities. And third they revert back to behaviors similar to those of a small child. This fundraiser is not a race but a leisurely walk through the trees and around the lake. You can choose a 3-mile or a 1-mile track. Kern says you can join or form a team at a-l-z-dot-org-forward-slash-STL. Registration is at 8am with the walk to end Alzheimer’s at 9.
