Two Cape men facing charges after a shooting go to trial this summer. 29-year-old Jimmy Bell and 32-year-old Seth Summers face 1st-degree assault and armed criminal action charges. 23-year-old Joshua Abernathie was shot in the left side of the head on County Road 5-35 near Neely's Landing August 28th, 2011. Abernathie told police all three drove out there together, parked on a county road and were drinking alcohol when Bell displayed a handgun. He allegedly shot Abernathie, who then stumbled to a neighbor's house for help. Bell and Summers were arrested after leaving the scene. Both pled not guilty. Bell will go to trial Wednesday before Judge William Syler in Jackson. Summers has a trial date for August 1st.
