A Jackson man charged in a Sikeston stealing scheme will go to trial this week. 35-year-old Jason Mitchell is charged with felony stealing. He allegedly stole 516-thousand dollars from a Sikeston business over three years. Sikeston Police alleged Mitchell received a kickback that should have gone to the DeWitt Company of Sikeston as payment for fabric supplies, instead of putting it out to a low bidder. The scheme involved payments from 2007 to 2009. The stolen money was paid by wire transfer to a bank in Cape. Judge William Syler will preside over Mitchell’s trial, set to run Tuesday and Wednesday in Jackson.
