Construction along Broadway brings Cape businesses together

Jun 19, 2012 -- 12:34pm

The construction work on Broadway in downtown Cape is slightly ahead of schedule thanks to great weather, few delays, and diligent work by the contractor.  Fronabarger is milling from the Middle Street to Sprigg area this week, as they march towards the finish line at Pacific by this fall.  The closure and detours have forced longtime businesses along the route to think outside the box to make sure customers know they are still open!  Old Town Cape executive director Marla Mills tells KZIM KSIM they are using other marketing techniques like the Internet and social media.  Mills says neighbor business owners are also helping each other.  She says for example, Horizon Screen Printing has made special signage for all the businesses in each block of construction to alert customers of new parking locations.  Many have also used the small business development center for marketing ideas.  Mills is hopeful these new tools will help these shops succeed, even after the dust settles.
