The Missouri State Parks System is inviting you to go camping under the stars this weekend with your friends and family as part of the national Great American Backyard Campout. It’s a nationwide initiative by the National Wildlife Federation to encourage you to reconnect with each other and the outdoors. Parks director Bill Bryan tells KZIM KSIM this is a great way for families to experience what it’s like to camp, swim, fish, and hike for the first-time. Bryan says some parks are putting together night hikes, music, and storytelling around the campfire this weekend. Trail of Tears State Park has a story time event Saturday night at the Mississippi River campsites, followed by S’mores. You can reserve a campsite at mostateparks-dot-com.
