Immanuel Lutheran Church of New Wells is hosting the 5th annual Armed forces appreciation Sunday this weekend. Coordinator Leonard Fiedler (fiddler) tells KZIM KSIM at 9am a full day of events will begin – including compelling speakers like Army Chaplain Greg Williamson. He is a parachutist and a 30-year ARMY veteran. He is just back from the militarized zone. There will then be a patriotic service and a recognition of everyone in uniform who ever served this country. Fielder says widows will also be recognized. He says the church was founded in 1853 so they have some civil war soldiers buried in the cemetery. Military services vehicles and memorabilia will be on display and refreshments will be served. The church is located at the corner of County Roads C and CC in northern Cape County. All donations will go towards supporting future veteran’s events.
