Cape Fire crews battle an apartment fire on Lynwood Hills Drive

Jun 21, 2012 -- 11:25am

Twelve people were forced from their home Thursday morning after fire broke out at an apartment complex just before 9 AM.  Cape Fire Department rushed to 27-64 Lynwood Hills Drive to find fire coming from the rooftop.  All of the residents were evacuated and no one was injured.  The blaze left significant damage, forcing twelve occupants to be placed in other vacant units.  Ten apartments suffered fire, smoke, and water damage. Cape Fire received mutual aid from Jackson and Scott City.  They were on the scene for almost four hours.  Investigators believe it was caused by improper disposal of smoking material.  The Red Cross is offering assistance to those displaced.  The fire caused an estimated 300-thousand-dollars in damages.
