Local Business man and Member of the Military Vehicle Preservation Association, Dave Hutson is going NORTH to Alaska!! He will be retracing the steps of 70 years ago when military personnel built the Alaskan highway in EXTREME conditions. Hutson will be driving a 1952 Korean era WILLIES JEEP on the 41-hundred mile trip with co-driver and mechanic John Reed, also of Cape Girardeau. Hutson tells KZIM KSIM this isn’t just a great experience – he wants to make it special… He is asking for everyone to pledge funds per mile and he will donate it to the veterans organization of your choice. If you give a penny a mile it is 41-dollars. A dime per mile would mean 4-hundred-10 dollars. The Alaskan terrain is unfriendly and the 1942 Army Corps of Engineers branch of the military faced danger and death but the outposts needed supplies after Pearl Harbor was bombed and the Corp made it possible. To pledge to Hutson’s journey and benefit your favorite military organization – call 335-3278 or 334-6251. You can also friend Dave on facebook.
