A dog in Dunklin County nearly decapitated in an animal abuse case

Jun 21, 2012 -- 12:00pm

According to Animal Control Officer Tina Petix it’s the worst case of animal abuse she has seen in her five years in Kennett.  An animal abuse and animal neglect charges are pending for two men involved in the case.  A black Labrador was found tied to a tree using heavy logging chain and a padlock.  An employee at a neighboring business saw the animal and reported it to the unit.  Petix tells KZIM-KSIM the chain was embedded into the dog’s neck. The dog is in recovery now and once cleared by the veterinarian will be up for adoption. They still have medical bills for the operation and are asking for help.  You can send donations to the Kennett Veterinary Clinic at 1704 St. Francis Street.
