A Cape man is found guilty after a shooting. 29-year-old Jimmy Bell and 32-year-old Seth Summers face 1st-degree assault and armed criminal action charges. 23-year-old Joshua Abernathie was shot in the left side of the head on County Road 5-35 near Neely's Landing August 28th, 2011. Abernathie told police all three drove out there together, parked on a county road and were drinking alcohol when Bell displayed a handgun. He shot Abernathie, who then stumbled to a neighbor's house for help. Bell and Summers were arrested after leaving the scene. A jury deliberated for 95 minutes before finding Bell guilty Thursday in front of Judge William Syler in Jackson. He will be sentenced July 30th. Summers has a trial date August 1st.
