The American Red Cross is calling all donors! With 50-thousand fewer donations than expected in June they are experiencing an emergency level of need. Currently they have half the readily available blood products on hand than this time last year. The Missouri-Illinois region must collect more than 8-hundred pints per day to meet their need. Red Cross Spokesman Dan Fox tells KZIM-KSIM summer months always create a drought for collections. Fox adds nearly every two seconds blood is needed for a transfusion. All types are needed but especially O positive and negative, B negative and A Negative. You can find the closest blood drive to you buy visiting www.RedCross.org.
