Leaf collection in Cape Girardeau has undergone a major change! Click here for details

Sep 20, 2012 -- 12:57pm

No more heart thumping stress when you hear the Cape Girardeau Public Works crews coming to vacuum your leaves from your curbside! No more frantic raking of leaves to get as many to the curb as you can before you miss the boat completely! Public Works Director Tim Gramling tells KZIM KSIM they have devised a cost saving and less time consuming schedule that everyone is sure to love! One employee, one piece of equipment, and cleaner city streets! The goal is to have multiple pick up dates throughout the year for everyone from November through March. Several pick ups will benefit residents as Mother Nature brings down spring or fall leaves. This system will handle all situations and conditions. Gramling asks that you not place a tarp over your leaves, obstruct access, or park cars near the pile to be collected. Rain may also force a delay in retrieval of leaves by a few days. In summary, no more zones and dates to remember for leaf collection in Cape Girardeau. And no higher costs for you. Just keep leaves at the curb and they will be collected.
