The fourth of July celebration in Jackson will center in the city park. Executive Director of the Jackson Parks and Recreation Department Shane Anderson is excited about the schedule of events! A 5K run will jumpstart the holiday, followed by the return of the MUD volleyball tournament and a beer garden, with an antique and classic car show, patriotic Bicycle parade, a colony from the 1700’s, jazz and patriotic music, and the fireworks display at 9:30pm! Anderson tells KZIM KSIM they purchased 10-thousand dollars of fireworks but are getting a lot more BANG for their buck! The supplier promised a good amount for the money. Bear in mind that in the 1970's a long fireworks display was only a thousand dollars! So they are looking forward to a BIG show. The beer garden will be in shelter number one where no one under 21 will be admitted. There will be art in the park for sale and every kind of food vendor imaginable. Anderson suggests you try the deep fried, chocolate covered bacon! Reminder! Many areas of the park will be closed to traffic and no parking areas will be signed.
