Grab your fishing pole, brush off your tackle box and start digging for worms because Saturday is the 28th Annual Wiggle and Giggle Kid Fishing Derby at Hager Lake in the Farmington Industrial Park. Parks and Recreation Spokesman Bud Norman tells KZIM/KSIM there are usually up to 300 people of all ages gathered around the lake, adding it is a time to put down your electronics and have some family fun outdoors. The fishing competition, which first began in 1986, is open to all children ages 14 and younger. The event is divided into two age divisions: Preschool to 7-year-old, and 8- to 14-year-old. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. with the first cast at 8 a.m. All competitors must be accompanied by an adult with a valid Missouri fishing license.
