There is a spike in crime as police are hitting one north St. Louis neighborhood hard. St. Louis Metro Police have started what they call “Hot Spot” policing in the Wells-Goodfellow neighborhood. The area has seen a bump in homicides. Five people have been killed there since April. Chief Sam Dotson says they’re adding more officers in uniform, and in plain clothes, and they’re driving more marked and un-marked vehicles through the neighborhood. The latest effort started Wednesday morning. Last month’s hot spot was the ‘Tower Grove South’ neighborhood. Chief Dotson says he thinks the ‘hot spot’ policing is a model that works.
