U.S. Senator Dick Durbin says Nancy Rosenstengel will make an exceptional federal judge for the southern district of Illinois. Rosenstengel was confirmed by the Senate last week on a unanimous vote. Durbin says this is a ground-breaking appointment because she is the first woman to ever serve as an Article-3 federal judge for the southern district of the state. Rosenstengel was serving as Clerk of the Court for the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois for the last five years. She had served as a law clerk to Federal Judge Patrick Murphy for the 11 years before that. She also worked in private practice as a lawyer in St. Louis for five years. She is a graduate of Southern Illinois University School of Law.
