Due to low river levels the River Event has been moved this weekend

Sep 19, 2012 -- 1:09pm

Due to the low river levels, the Red Star Access boat ramp in Cape Girardeau is not operational.  There is currently a large sand bar blocking passage to the river channel and water level is at 6 point 2 feet at the Cape gauge.  The access won’t be operational until the river reaches 8 feet, but the Missouri Department of Conservation will hold their River Day Event this weekend regardless.  It has been moved to the River Front Park on Saturday.  Coordinator Angela Pierce tells KZIM-KSIM they will have all kinds of events including boat rides. The event is held in conjunction with national hunting and fishing day as a way for parents to introduce their children to the fun of fishing.  It is free and begins at 9 AM.  For more information call 290-5730.
