Missouri Highway Patrol catches a fugitive out of Iowa in Stoddard County

Sep 19, 2012 -- 2:43pm

The Missouri Highway Patrol has caught a fugitive who escaped an Iowa prison while on work detail on Monday.  Around 9:30 Wednesday morning a trooper was stationary on Missouri Highway 153 in Stoddard County monitoring traffic when the suspect passed in a white car.  The trooper pulled onto the roadway behind the car.  Trooper Clark Parrott tells KZIM-KSIM it was at the time the man began to accelerate and the trooper attempted to pull him over. The chase ended in a wreck where no one was injured. The suspect, Steven Adcock, was discovered to be a fugitive from an Iowa prison.  He was serving a 16 year prison sentence for larceny, possession of drugs, fleeing and assaulting a law officer.  Adcock was driving a stolen vehicle from Kansas City.  He is being held at the Stoddard County Sheriff’s office in Bloomfield.  He will appear tomorrow for extradition proceedings.
