A man already imprisoned on rape goes to trial for a rape cold case this fall

Jun 29, 2012 -- 4:08pm

A man already in state prison for kidnapping and raping a 15-year-old girl nearly 30-years ago in Cape County will go to trial this fall for a cold case rape!  50-year-old Charles O’Howell has a jury trial set for October 30th before Judge Ben Lewis on one count of forcible rape.  He is currently serving a 55-year term for a 1982 rape conviction.  His DNA was matched to an unsolved 1981 sexual assault of a 31-year-old Cape woman and was charged with felony forcible rape in July 2011.  The prosecutor Friday added a 1st-degree robbery charge against him for allegedly robbing a Cape woman at her house at gunpoint in February 1982.  He goes to court Monday in Jackson on that new charge.
