Former Carter County sheriff Tommy Adams will be sentenced next week on federal weapons charges while he was still sheriff.  The 32-year-oldpled guilty in April to two counts of stolen firearms possession, sale of a stolen firearm, and being a drug user in possession of a gun.  Adams was arrested in April 2011, following a Missouri State Highway Patrol investigation into his alleged drug deals.  In December 2009, Adams seized 18 firearms from an arrest and sold one of them to a Highway Patrol informant.  He was still sheriff of Carter County at the time, but resigned after the arrest.  Adams will be sentenced on the 9^th in US District Court in Cape.   He faces up to 10-years in prison on each count.
