East Prairie has been watching the extreme drought conditions get worse, without a drop of rain. But despite the danger, they will hold their annual fireworks display this week. It has been moved to a safer location at the Industrial Park on Highway-80. East Prairie Mayor Kevin Mainord last week issued an executive order for no burning. They are also prohibiting the discharge of ALL aerial fireworks. Fire Chief Kyle Hutcheson tells KZIM KSIM they are going out of their way to make sure this show is safe! Hutcheson reminds you only ground cover fireworks are allowed to be discharged but you must have adult supervision. The fireworks shows in Ellington, Malden, Dexter, Piedmont, Kennett, Fredericktown, Anna, and Perryville have been cancelled or postponed.
