A building in downtown Cape Girardeau collapsed this afternoon while workers were repairing the façade. Ruby Windeknecht was next door to 633 West Goodhope Street when the building collapsed. Assistant City Manager, Molly Hood says the building owner was working to replace the bricks on the building because they were bulging. It was one of his last projects as part of the repairs. She says the owner has already spoken with someone about coming to clean up the debris.
