The Highway Patrol reported just three highway deaths during the Fourth of July holiday counting period. Patrols investigated 99 crashes with 45 injuries on the roadways and 6 boating crashes with 3 injuries and no fatalities. The counting period ran from 6 PM Tuesday to 11:59 Wednesday night. Missouri Highway Patrol Captain Tim Hull tells KZIM-KSIM because the holiday fell mid-week they will have extra patrol this weekend. One man drowned while swimming in Taney County and two juveniles were electrocuted while swimming at the Lake of the Ozarks they were pronounced dead at Lake Regional Hospital. So far this year the Highway Patrol has reported 397 deaths compared to 342 this time last year.
