A new wave of scammers is targeting utility customers and Ameren Missouri is warning you to protect your personal information. This scam is similar to one that occurred in mid-May where customers are told the President is offering credits of up to 15-hundred dollars to their utility bill. They are then asked to make a payment today by using a bank routing number supplied by the scam artists and the number on the back of your social security card. Ameren Missouri Spokesperson Carole Hunt tells KZIM-KSIM what to do if you are approached. If you have made a recent transaction and fear you have been scammed you can call 800-552-7583. Ameren serves more than 2 million electric customers and 900-thousand natural gas customers in Missouri and Illinois.
