Midwestern fireworks retailers experienced a major drop in their sales this year due in part to the excessive dry conditions and burn bans. A survey shows most temporary stands reported a 50-percent fall off from last year. The numbers weren’t nearly as bad in our area. Rick Hoffman co-operates Hoffman Family Fireworks in Southeast Missouri. He tells KZIM KSIM despite slashing prices in half, they saw about a 30-percent drop in sales. But he says they did see a rise in customers that came into their stores. Hoffman says the big sellers were the smaller, ground fireworks which flew off the shelves. Hoffman operated five tents in the region from Cape to Jackson to Perryville and Advance.
