The high temperatures have claimed another victim! The Southeast Area 14th annual Special Olympics area softball tournament scheduled for (tomorrow) today at Shawnee Sports Complex has been postponed. Twenty-two teams from Saint Louis and Southeast Missouri were expected to compete all day. Southeast area manager Penny Williams tells KZIM KSIM they can’t take any chances of an athlete succumbing to the heat! Williams says they do expect cooler temperatures this fall when Cape again hosts the State Outdoor Games October 11th-14th. Over 800 athletes from all four corners of the state will compete in softball, golf, tennis, bocce, flag football, and soccer.
