The Southeast Missouri Food Bank is working to reach even more hungry Missourians by opening a new distribution center in Sikeston. The 64-thousand square foot facility is three times larger than their Cape location and boasts an additional 20 acre plot they can use for expansion. The group will not be completely moved into the new location until closer to the end of the year and they will continue volunteer services in their Cape building. Executive Director Karen Green tells KZIM-KSIM this will help their delivery to the 16 counties they serve. Green adds they are looking to add commercial refrigeration to future development to help handle frozen foods. Currently they are preparing for another school year with the ABC School Pantry with the Hayti District and Backpacks for Friday Program.
