Aug 14, 2014 -- 12:40pm

The Missouri Arts Council (MAC) recently awarded five grants totaling $23,717 to support a variety of arts initiatives in the coming year at Southeast Missouri State University. The Director of the Holland School of Visual and Performing Arts and Associate Dean of the College of Liberal Arts Rhonda Weller-Stilson tells KZIM-KSIM that the grants help a lot, but don’t fund anything 100%. MAC awarded $7,700 to support the Jazz Dance Residency Program, $2,000 to help with the printing and distribution of the University Press’ “Big Muddy: Journal of the Mississippi River Valley,” $3,920 for the 14th annual Southeast Missouri Symphony Orchestra Concert Series, $4,525 to assist with two exhibits at the Rosemary Berkel and Harry L. Crisp II Museum and $5,572 to help cover production costs for the Department of Theatre and Dance’s production of “Macbeth.”
