The Cape City Council will be discussing the possible need for scooter drivers to wear helmets and get insurance to operate their vehicles. Currently there is no law requiring motorists operating a vehicle less than 50 CC’s to wear safety equipment or purchase insurance. The idea was brought to Ward 5 councilman Mark Lanzotti by Sarina Webb. She has asked to make a presentation at the study session Monday night. Lanzotti supports the proposal and tells KZIM-KSIM it’s seems like appropriate action. Any Missouri city can make their laws more restrictive than the state but not less restrictive. Communities throughout the state are handling scooter issues differently ranging from helmet use to banning certain types of scooters.
