The “country church in the city” is going to share a legendary recipe with you this weekend! It’s Apple Butter time at the Evangelical Church of Christ at 33 south Ellis Street in Cape. Pastor Dan Johnson says this Saturday, rain or shine, they will be making the traditional, sweet, spread for you to sample… and purchase! He tells KZIM KSIM the street will be closed in front of the church with activities for the entire family… The German congregation was founded in the 1800-s and has been making apple butter for 50 years! No one knew about this Fall tradition so they are having this festival to share it with the community. From 10am til 3pm you can sample the apple butter and purchase food. Bob Dolle and Friends, a western swing band will be playing, kids can enjoy a miniature train ride, face painting, and games! The red cross will also be holding a blood drive til 2pm. If you donate blood you eat for free! If it rains the event will move indoors.
