Oct 03, 2012 -- 12:48pm

A Cape Girardeau woman charged with elder abuse pleads guilty and gets probation.  22-year-old Sherri Sprenger pled guilty Wednesday to misdemeanor elder abuse for slapping a 98-year-old resident at the Lutheran Home.  She was employed as a nurse’s aide to provide bedside care at the Home when the act occurred August 21st.  Police noted bruising on the face of the resident.  Sprenger admitted to slapping the victim after losing her temper.  She is no longer employed at the Lutheran home.  Judge Michael Bullerdieck sentenced Sprenger to two years in jail but suspended that and instead placed her on two-years probation, community service, and anger management counseling.
