The Missouri State Parks is holding an open house this weekend at Lake Wappapello for you to learn more about its history and give input on how it can be improved. The event begins at 10 AM Saturday with a program on the mammals that roam the park on the front lawn of the nature center. You can then partake in a question and answer session with rangers at 11:30 on ways to improve the facilities. Naturalist Wanda Doolen tells KZIM KSIM this is your chance to sound off on what’s working and ways to make your experience better in the future. Doolen says they will serve lunch at noon after a camp cookout demonstration, where you can see how to safely prepare food with coals and a fire. There is no need to pre-register, just show up at nature center from 10 until noon. All input will be used in future budgets to upgrade Lake Wappapello.
