Some industries and facilities may need permits to work along the Mississippi River

Jul 11, 2012 -- 10:46am

Dry weather and low water conditions may require permits for some industries and facilities along the Mississippi River.  Companies that work with loading docks on the river may have trouble docking barges and boats due to the river levels.  Some facilities may take action to combat the issue by dredging or deepening the area but may first need a permit from the Army Corps of Engineers.  Corps Spokesman Jim Pogue tells KZIM-KSIM they will work to make short work of the permit process. To get a permit you have to call the corps office and provide your facility name, location map with coordinates, name and number of existing corps permits and project details.  To contact the Memphis District call 901-544-3005.
