An Anna woman remains jailed on charges she suffocated her infant child to death in September. 39-year-old Stacey Tiffin was arrested Thursday after a three week long investigation. She is charged with first-degree murder. According to Union County authorities, Tiffin placed her hand over the mouth and nose of her 11-month-old daughter, Cassandra, September 16th, causing the death of the child. The baby was taken to Union County Hospital and pronounced dead later that night. The motive is unknown. Illinois State Police and the Southern Illinois Child Death Task Force investigated. Tiffin remains jailed, was assigned a public defender Friday, and has a preliminary hearing on the 30th before Judge Mark Boie.
