The Sikeston Public Library is embracing technology after receiving a grant to assist patrons with their e-reader devices. State awarded the library with the Exploration Grant for 18-hundred dollars. They were able to purchase several e-readers which they will use to teach new users how to operate. Assistant Director Ron Eifert tells KZIM-KSIM they were surprised by the age range of patrons who like E-Readers. They began offering e-books and downloadable audio books in May. Having E-Readers on-hand will provide the library staff with more knowledge on the technology and they hope to assist people looking to purchase e-readers or switching to a new style. They expect to begin training classes in August.
