The Southern Illinois University Carbondale Department of Public Safety is investigating a battery and robbery that occurred Sunday in the parking lot south of the Student Rec Center.  The incident occurred at 12:30 AM and involved an 18-year-old S-I-U student.  The victim told police he was walking through the parking lot when a gray Jeep Cherokee with four men inside approached.  Three of the men left the vehicle and demanded the victim's wallet.  He noticed two more men, each wearing dark hats approach and one of those hit him in the head.  The victim received minor injuries but did not require medical treatment.  All six suspects are African American males.  Anyone with information about the incident should call the SIU Carbondale Department of Public Safety at 618-453-3771.
