Cape County celebrates its bicentennial this year

Oct 19, 2012 -- 12:42pm

Cape County has turned 200 years old!  Next week the Stephen Pledger, Director of the County Archives, will appear before the commissioners to give a brief history and read the original proclamation from 1812.  Cape County is one of the original five counties of the state and had its original boundaries stretching from Apple Creek to the confluence of the Ohio and Mississippi River and stretching to near the Kansas border.  Pledger tells KZIM-KSIM a lot happened right here in the area. Archives are available dating back to the late 1700's.  You can visit their office in Jackson or their website at CapeCounty.US.
